Brahmapur: Police on Tuesday arrested the brother of former Brahmapur mayor Siva Shankar Das and three others here for allegedly planning a crime, an official said.
A pistol, four mobile phones, two motorcycles and Rs 66,700 in cash were seized from them, police said.
The accused have been identified as Chandra Sekhar Das (44), the brother of the former mayor, Kailash Mohanty (49), Situn Sahu (25) and Debashish Patro (30), all from Ganjam district, a police officer said.
Siva Shankar Das was arrested last year in connection with the murder of senior advocate Pitabash Panda and is now lodged in Phulbani jail.
On receiving information that some armed anti-socials had assembled at a house on the Gosaninuagaon main road, police raided the spot and arrested the four accused, he said.
