Bhubaneswar: An Odisha factories officer was arrested Wednesday, a day after vigilance department sleuths unearthed multiple properties and land parcels owned by him that are disproportionate to his known source of income.
Umakant Samantaray, an assistant director of factories and boilers in Sambalpur, has been arrested on corruption charges, an officer said.
He said that during raids conducted at seven places in Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Khordha Tuesday, Samantaray was found in possession of four multi-storeyed buildings, a flat, 30 high-value land parcels, 300 grams of gold, bank deposits of Rs 36.78 lakh, and a four-wheeler.
A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corru
