Baleshwar: Flood-hit areas of Baleshwar district continued to face hardships Friday, with several villages in Baliapal and Bhograi blocks reportedly remaining waterlogged despite the Subarnarekha river falling below the danger mark.
The river was reportedly flowing at 9.60 metres at Rajghat Friday morning, below its danger level of 10.36 metres but still above the warning level.
Sources said floodwaters have damaged vegetable crops in the Subarnarekha basin, leaving farmers staring at significant losses. Several houses have also reportedly been inundated, damaging rice, food grains and household belongings kept inside.
Residents in the affected areas continue to struggle with disrupted daily life. Road communication has been hit in several locations, with about 4 feet of water flowing over some roads and making movement difficult, the sources added.
