Bhadrak: Floodwaters have caused eight breaches along the Salandi river and its tributary Nalia river in Odisha’s Bhadrak district Wednesday.

The breaches, ranging from minor to major, have left large stretches of agricultural land submerged in different parts of the district.

According to a source, the largest breach, measuring about 150 feet, was reported at Bilana-Lanjatara in Tihidi block. Another breach spanning more than 100 feet took place near Talagopabindha, while several other locations recorded breaches of more than 50 feet.

The Irrigation Department has reportedly launched repair work on the damaged embankments. Restoration work has been completed at some locations, while efforts are continuing at other affected stretches, the source added.
