Odisha govt to appoint 20,000 junior teachers

Bhubaneswar: The Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department of Odisha government Wednesday notified that the state government will soon launch a recruitment drive to appoint 20,000 junior teachers in primary schools.

In addition to that Odisha government has also relaxed the residency period of as many as 54,000 teachers and headmasters, the notification read. Residency period is the minimum period for which a candidate must work at the department for a specific time to avail promotion.

In Secondary education front, requisite steps are being taken to fill up 7,540 posts of secondary school teachers and 6,025 Leave and Training Reserve (LTR) teachers, the notification said. Trained candidates will be commissioned as junior teachers in primary schools all over the state.

As per the notification, 1,799 junior assistants will be recruited in secondary schools, blocks and district education offices.

According to the notification, the state government will recruit 1,543 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in fully-aided higher secondary schools.

Additionally, State Selection Board (SSB) has commenced the enrolment process of 555 PGTs in the first phase, said the notification.

Besides, a process to appoint 335 teachers for higher secondary schools has already been started by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), the notification read.
