Bhubaneswar: Odisha grapplers performed splendidly to win a total of six medals including four gold and two silver medals in the National Grappling Championships at Nashik, Saturday.
Monali Sahu bagged a gold medal in the girls’ 67kg fighting while Anuska Priyadarshini clinched the yellow metal in the 56kg fighting. In the boys’ U-12 event 60kg category Subhakanta Biswal emerged champion and in the U-14 47kg segment Punit Lenka took the top honours.
In the boys’ U-16 category D Bhagaban Reddy settled for a silver medal and in the girls’ U-18 segment Mamata Sahoo finished second.
Prabhanshu bags title
Prabhanshu Dash of Saraswati Sisu Vidyamandir, Baramunda emerged champion of the Ist State Schools’ Open Chess Championship, which concluded here Saturday
Prabhanshu took the top honous with a total of seven points. Anju Subudhi of St. Xavier’s International School finished runner-up with six points while Nikhil Sahoo of Stewart School secured the third position with 5.5 points. M Baibhav and Ronak Senapati finished fourth and fifth respectively.
