Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling Thursday laid the foundation stone for upgrading a 100-bed government Ayurvedic hospital in Bhubaneswar and constructing a pharmacy warehouse in the state capital.
Mahaling said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasis is being given to preservation, promotion and modernisation of traditional treatment techniques, including Ayurveda.
Taking this forward, the state government has been taking various steps for the qualitative improvement, modernisation and strengthening of infrastructure of government Ayurvedic hospitals in Odisha, he said.
Upgrading the 100-bed government Ayurvedic hospital in Bhubaneswar will enhance the quality of medical services and create a more convenient and patient-centric environment for patients, Mahaling said.
Similarly, the construction of the pharmacy warehouse will improve the organised storage and management of medicines and essential medical supplies, he said.
Officials said the state government has given approval for the construction of a new Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district. The government has also enhanced the monthly salary of contractual faculty members, readers and professors of Ayurvedic medical colleges.
