Odisha: MBBS student brings ragging allegations, family lodges FIR

Berhampur: An MBBS student of MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MKCGMCH) in Berhampur has accused his senior of ragging.

The second-year MBBS student from Balasore has accused two of his seniors of physical assault while he was returning to his hostel from band rehearsals February 9.

The victim allegedly sustained injuries on his face and neck due to the assault.

The matter came to light after father of the victim lodged an FIR at Baidyanathpur Police Station accusing the senior students. The victim’s family also brought the matter to the attention of MKCG authorities, the Superintendent of Police (SP), and other officials through a social media post.

In response to the incident, MKCGMCH Principal Santosh Mishra stated that the second-year student has reported the matter to the anti-ragging cell. A probe has been initiated and necessary steps will be taken by the cell following the investigation.
