Odisha: One held on charges of wildlife crime, leopard skin seized

Sambalpur: The STF of Odisha police have arrested a wildlife criminal and seized a leopard skin from his possession.

An STF source here Wednesday said acting on a reliable tipoff, a team of STF conducted a raid April 11 afternoon near Champali River embankment in the Sambalpur district.

During the raid wildlife criminal — identified as Babuli Naik — was apprehended and during the search, one leopard Skin and other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession.

The accused person could not produce any authority in support of the possession of the leopard skin, for which he was arrested.

The STF has registered a case against the wildlife criminal on Wednesday and the accused will be forwarded to the Court of SDJM, Redhakhol. The skin will be sent to Director WII, Dehradun for biological examination, the STF source said.
