Bhubaneswar: The ‘Mission Answer to Cancer’ to prevent cancer and ensure a tobacco- free childhood has been launched in Indonesia by activists from Odisha.
A team of anti-tobacco activists comprising Md. Imran Ali, Piyus Kumar Sahoo and Ashisa Kumar Sahoo organised an anti-tobacco campaign in Bali and Yogyakarta provinces of Indonesia.
The Tobacco-Free Childhood campaign at SMAN 2 Semarapura Government School in Bali was highly appreciated by the Indonesian authorities. Around 150 students of this school took a pledge not to touch tobacco at all.
Similarly, several college students of Indonesia were sensitised about the ill-effects of tobacco at the Gandhi Puri Ashram in Bali. The awareness campaign was launched at airports, parks and other tourist spots of Bali and Yogyakarta too.
The campaign was supported by OSEHCA and the Gandhi Puri Ashram. Imran has thanked Jamna Lal Bajaj Awardee, eminent Gandhian and the founder of the Gandhi Puri Ashram of Indonesia, Indra Udayana, for supporting the campaign.
