Odisha: Palasuni’s Satara Nala Bridge set for protection measures

Bhubaneswar: The long-pending process to protect the historic Satara Nala Bridge at Palasuni has moved a step closer to action, with officials from multiple departments inspecting the site and recording their findings Saturday.

Officials and field staff from Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), General Administration and Public Grievance (GA&PG) department, Bhubaneswar Tahasil administration, including the RI, and Odisha State Archaeology under the department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture (OLL&C) took part in the inspection, sources said.

According to sources, the details from all the departments have been finalised and recorded. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) team is the only one yet to inspect the site. Once its inspection is completed, protection work for the Satara Nala Bridge is expected to be taken up.

A major issue flagged during the exercise is an alleged encroachment over the bridge. Sources said a house constructed through encroachment was found to be outside the approved plan/map.
