Bhubaneswar: Odisha government is working on a proposal to bring Class X and XII examinations under a single board by merging the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) and Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), School and Mass Education Secretary N Tirumala Nayak said Monday.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed the department to work toward establishing one board for both levels. The government is preparing a draft law to facilitate the proposed merger, Nayak added.
The proposed arrangement is expected to follow a model similar to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which conducts examinations for both Class X and XII.
However, the examination pattern will not be altered under the proposed system. The plan is limited to bringing the existing BSE and CHSE under a common board.
The government has not specified a timeline for implementing the proposed system.
