Bhubaneswar: Heated argument turned into a group clash over a car parking dispute on the premises of Maharaja cinema hall in Bhubaneswar, a source said Sunday.

According to the source, the incident unfolded when a family and a group of youth visited the movie theatre to watch a film Saturday night. Amid heavy rush, limited space was left on the premises for parking. Both groups wanted to leave their vehicles at the same location, which led to an altercation.

In a viral video related to the clash, a girl can be seen sitting on top of a car and hitting its bonnet, which irked the opposing party. In response, the girl was pulled out of the car, which resulted in a fistfight between the members of the two groups.

In a short time, a sizable crowd gathered there. Following the commotion, road communication was hindered along AH 16 close to the movie theatre for around 30 minutes. Due to the gathering, many vehicles were left stuck on the route.

On being informed, police reached the spot and detained the troublemakers from both sides.

The authorities of the cinema hall could not be contacted over the incident.

It may be mentioned here that heated arguments and violence over parking are nothing new in the area where space for parking has been severely constrained over ongoing construction projects and presence of several big-ticket offices including motor vehicle dealerships, hospitals, large government offices including Bhubaneswar-1 RTO office and Maharaja cinema hall – where this incident took place.
