Odisha registers 428 new Covid-19 cases; 55 children below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 428 new Covid-19 cases, of which 55 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,17,261. Active caseload in the state now stands at 6,290.

Out of the 428 new infections, 252 were reported from quarantine centres while 176 persons contracted the virus locally.

Odisha also reported four (04) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,108 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Tuesday morning.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 179 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 46 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (18), Jajpur (21) and Mayurbhanj (18), Puri (15), Jagatsinghpur (20), Kendrapara (six), Nayagarh (eight), Dhenkanal (three), Angul (five) and Bhadrak (10), Malkangiri and Keonjhar (one each), Bargarh (three), Deogarh, Raygada and Ganjam (four each), Sambalpur (nine) and Sundargarh (six).

The State Pool reported 42 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 1,89,53,163 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 682.
