Odisha registers 630 new Covid-19 cases; 116 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 630 new Covid-19 cases, of which 116 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,15,713. Active caseload in the state now stands at 7,020.

Odisha also reported eight (08) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,092 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Saturday morning. The state had reported six (06) Covid-19 fatalities Friday.

Cuttack reported highest deaths (two). It was followed by Balasore, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Malkangiri and Mayurbhanj districts (one each).

Out of the 630 new infections, 368 were reported from quarantine centres while 262 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 745 cases of coronavirus infections Friday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 221 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 118 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Angul (5), Balasore (23), Bargarh (4), Bhadrak (10), Bolangir (3), Boudh (1), Deogarh (4), Dhenkanal (12), Gajapati (3), Ganjam (3), Jagatsinghpur (11), Jajpur (32), Jharsuguda (1), Kalahandi (1), Kandhamal (2), Kendrapara (8), Keonjhar (4), Koraput (9), Malkangiri (4), Mayurbhanj (20), Nabarangpur (2), Nayagarh (17), Nuapada (1), Puri (16), Rayagada (7), Sambalpur (13) and Sundargarh (22).

The State Pool reported 53 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 1,87,93,997 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 689.
