Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 7,188 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 7,47,143. The active caseload in the state now stands at 97,271. Out of the 7,188 new infections, 4,026 were reported from quarantine centres while 3,162 persons contracted the virus locally.
Odisha reported 35 fresh fatalities taking the total tally in the state to 2,686 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department. Angul district alone reported the highest (five); followed by Kalahandi and Rayagada districts (four each); Khurda, Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur and Sundargarh districts (three each); Boudh, Jagatsinghpur and Koraput districts (two each); Cuttack, Malkangiri, Sambalpur and Subarnapur districts (one each). Incidentally, all the three fatalities in Khurda district were reported from the State Capital.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new Covid-19 cases with 1,134 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 690 new infections.

Other districts that reported new Covid-19 cases are: Angul (515), Puri (457), Jajpur (406), Mayurbhanj (320), Bargarh (271), Boudh (257), Dhenkanal (255), Nayagarh (242), Nabarangpur (216), Koraput (202), Kalahandi (177), Sundargarh (172), Rayagada (165), Ganjam (163), Jagatsinghpur (154), Subarnapur (129), Sambalpur (120), Jharsuguda (114), Gajapati (106), Balasore (103), Bolangir (93), Malkangiri (92), Bhadrak (89), Kendrapara (75), Nuapada (62), Deogarh (61), Keonjhar (57) and Kandhamal (54).
The State Pool reported 237 new cases in the last 24 hours. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,16,45,402 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 11,954.
