Bhubaneswar: Schools from Odisha, including SAI International School, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), have secured prominent positions in the EducationWorld India School Rankings (EWISR) 2026-27, with institutions from Bhubaneswar, Kataka, Baripada and other parts of the state featuring among the country’s top-ranked schools across categories. Released by Education World in association with AZ Research Partners Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, the rankings are based on a nationwide survey of 18,000 respondents, including parents, teachers, educators and counsellors across 34 cities and 22 states.
The 2026-27 edition marks the 20th consecutive year of the annual survey. SAI International School, Bhubaneswar has been placed in the Ivy League category for Day cum-Boarding Schools, receiving a three-star rating. The category recognises schools that have consistently performed well across key parameters of educational excellence. SAI International Residential School, Cuttack has ranked No. 6 nationally among Co-ed Boarding Schools, improving from No. 7 last year.
Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Budhapal has retained the No. 4 position nationally among State Government Day Schools for the third consecutive year. In the Government Boarding Schools category, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Mahipani ranked No. 8 nationally, compared with No. 7 last year. Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan, Baripada secured No. 11, down from No. 9 in the previous edition. Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar ranked No. 5 nationally in the Philanthropic Schools category, improving from No. 7 last year.
The survey ranks around 4,500 schools on 14 parameters of educational excellence, with legacy schools also assessed on the quality of their alumni. The parameters cover academic reputation, faculty competence, student attention, leadership and management, curriculum and pedagogy, co-curricular and sports education, community service, parental involvement, teacher welfare and development, value for money, student well-being, infrastructure and special- needs education.
AZ Research Partners Founder-Director Shubhra Misra said the survey methodology was designed to minimise attempts to influence the rankings. Education World Founder-Editor of Dilip Thakore said the rankings aim to encourage school managements to continuously improve educational standards and provide parents with detailed information when choosing schools for their children.
