Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government Friday signed six MoUs with various organisations to strengthen digital agriculture, climate resilience and farmer livelihoods, officials said.
The Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department signed an MoU with the Department of Posts, Odisha Circle, four agreements with ICRISAT an international, non-profit organisation that conducts agricultural research and another with the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) here in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo.
Speaking on this occasion, Singh Deo said, These six historic MoUs mark a paradigm shift in Odisha’s agricultural landscape. By leveraging our vast network of Gramin Dak Sevaks for AgriStack enrolment and partnering with premier research institutions, we are decentralising our seed systems, empowering our smallholder farmers, and tackling malnutrition at the grassroots level.
This holistic approach will ensure self-sufficiency in pulses and oilseeds while guaranteeing last-mile service delivery to every farming household in Odisha, he said.
The Gramin Dak Sevaks will facilitate farmer registry enrolment and ID generation, CM-Kisan registration, PM-Kisan e-KYC and Aadhaar seeding, in addition to other farmer-centric digital services, the officials added.
