Nayagada: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy and Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida Friday tied rakhis on Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s wrist at a function organised to mark the disbursement of the fifth instalment of financial assistance to women beneficiaries under the state’s flagship Subhadra scheme.
Taking to X, Majhi said, “On this auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan today, the Hon’ble Speaker Smt. Surama Padhi and the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Pravati Parida tied rakhi to me. I am grateful for your affection and love.”
In her social media post, Parida said, “On the sacred occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Honorable Chief Minister Shri @MohanMOdisha was tied a Rakhi and received blessings. On this auspicious occasion, on behalf of all Subhadra sisters in Odisha, heartfelt best wishes were conveyed to the Honorable Chief Minister. #Subhadra #SubhadraYojana.”
Speaking at the function, Majhi said when a woman is empowered, the entire family is empowered.
The assistance provided under the Subhadra scheme has brought about a major change in the financial situation of lakhs of women in the state and created a new story of self-reliance, he said.
“From villages to cities — today, it’s the victory song of women’s power. In Odisha’s history, a new era of self-reliance… the Subhadra scheme,” Majhi said in a social media post.
Leader of Opposition and BJD president Naveen Patnaik had celebrated Raksha Bandhan at Naveen Niwas Thursday, when several women leaders, including senior BJP MLAs Pramila Mallik and Tukuni Sahu, tied rakhis on his wrist.
“May the sacred bond of trust and security always remain unbreakable. Heartfelt wishes on Raksha Bandhan Full Moon. #RakhiPurnima,” Patnaik said in an X post.
