Nayagarh: Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police with the help of Nayagarh forest division officials arrested a person and seized a leopard hide from his possession.
STF sources Monday said that acting on reliable information, a team of STF Bhubaneswar with the help of forest officials of Nayagarh Division, conducted a raid on the night of June 30 on the NH 57 under Khamarsahi police limits in Nayagarh district.
During the raid, one Bairagi Behera was apprehended and a leopard hide besides other wildlife incriminating materials were recovered from his possession.
Behera, the STF sources said, was arrested as he could not produce any authority in support of the possession of leopard skin.
The STF has registered a case against and forwarded him to the SDJM court in Daspalla.
The seized leopard skin will be sent to Director WII, Dehradun, for biological examination.
