Bhubaneswar: The state government will develop an e-portal to streamline and increase transparency in the settlement of Lord Jagannath’s land, with Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan reviewing the proposed system at a high-level meeting here Friday.
Harichandan chaired the meeting at the Law Department conference hall in Lok Seva Bhawan to review progress on granting land rights to servitors and non-servitors who have been residing on Lord Jagannath’s land for a long period.
According to the decisions taken at the meeting, the proposed e-portal will enable servitors and non-servitors occupying Lord Jagannath’s land to submit their details through a simple and accessible online process. The portal is expected to facilitate the creation of a comprehensive database of all occupants of the land and make the land settlement process more systematic, transparent and efficient. Harichandan reviewed the proposed system in detail and offered suggestions to make the e-portal more user-friendly and effective. The focus was also on ensuring faster implementation of the land settlement process.
The meeting was attended by Aravind Kumar Padhee, Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple and Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department; Vishal Dev, Additional Chief Secretary of the Electronics and Information Technology Department; Dr Pabitra Mohan Samal, Principal Secretary of the Law Department; and Additional Secretary Shiv Prasad Mahapatra. Puri Collector Dibyajyoti Parida joined the meeting virtually, while senior officials of OCAC and ONIC were also present.
