Bhubanswar:   Indian Railways has decided to run three Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trains by replacing equal number of conventional coaches in the state.

The three coaches to be replaced include Bhubaneswar-Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar, Bhubaneswar-Brahmapur-Bhubaneswar and Bhubaneswar-Palasa-Bhubaneswar passenger trains.

According to reports, the new MEMU trains will be operational beginning the end of this month and will run with new numbers. The older ones will be discontinued at the same time. However, on days of maintenance of the MEMU coaches, the earlier conventional coaches will be in use.

The timing and stoppage of the MEMU trains will be as per the timings of earlier conventional coaches.

It may be mentioned here that the MEMU trains are electric multiple (EMU) trains that serve short- and medium-distance routes in India, as compared to normal EMU or local trains that connect urban and suburban areas.
