Odisha: Two Bol Bom devotees killed, 11 injured in road mishap

Berhampur: At least two Bol Bom devotees were killed and 11 others sustained injuries as a car hit them near Bhetanai area under Aska police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district, a source said.

The deceased were identified as Mukuna Behera (32) and Anita Kumari Jena (38).

All the 11 persons injured in the accident were admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

According to the source, as many as 17 kawarias were on their way from Aska to Arakhpur Tarakeswar temple to pour holy water and offer prayers on occasion of Shravana Monday. While they were walking, a speeding car rammed into them, which led to the death of one Bol Bom devotee on the spot.

Another victim succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, the source added.

Local police have seized the vehicle and an investigation into the incident is underway.
