Ganjam: Two children died after their mother allegedly threw them into a well Sunday. The incident took place in a village near Aska town under Odisha’s Ganjam district, a source said Monday.
According to the source, the woman threw her three children into the well. Subsequently, she also jumped into the well to die by suicide.
Upon hearing screams, locals rushed to the spot. The villagers were able to save the woman and one of her children.
However, the remaining two children thrown to the well lost their lives.
After being informed, Fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered two bodies.
The reason behind the woman throwing her children into the well and attempting suicide is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched a probe into it.
