Nayagarh: A video went viral Sunday showing a Class-IV government employee posted at Dasapalla Community Health Centre (CHC) in Nayagarh district asking for bribe to get the postmortem of a man conducted.

According to a source, the accused employee was identified as Ramesh Nayak. He allegedly demanded Rs 500 from the family members of a deceased youth to get the postmortem done.

The source informed that a youth from Baijhari village passed away at Dasapalla CHC. However, Ramesh allegedly made it clear that the postmortem will not be done unless the family paid him Rs500.

In the viral video that is doing rounds on social media, Ramesh can be seen engaged in an altercation with the family members over his demand. He claimed that it was not his job to get the postmortem done, but was forced to do so.

Following the uproar on the video, Nayagarh Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Makarand Beura said that he has already ordered an inquiry in this regard.
