Odisha weather: Cyclonic circulation likely to form over Bay of Bengal September 4; IMD flags Yellow Warning

Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around September 4, the regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar has said.

The current active cyclonic circulation now lies over northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, IMD informed in its bulletin.

The weather agency issued a Yellow Warning for thunderstorms and lightning in several districts of Odisha.

Upto 8.30 AM of September 1: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.

From 8.30 AM of September 1 to 8.30 AM of September 2: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 35 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 37.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Jagantsinghpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 22.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Phulbani, the bulletin informed.
