Odisha weather forecast: Heatwave conditions very likely over next four days

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Monday issued Orange Warnings for the heatwave in several districts of Odisha.

Upto 8.30 AM of June 13: As per the Orange Warning (be prepared), heatwave to severe heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Khurda districts.

As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Puri districts.

As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speeding upto 30-40kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Balasore, Jajpur and Bhadrak districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of June 13 to 8.30 AM of June 14: As per the Orange Warning (be prepared), heatwave to severe heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places over Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir districts.

As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam and Jajpur districts.

As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati and at one or two places over the rest districts of the state.

The weather agency forecasted no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) over the next five days at many places in the state. It is likely to be above normal by 4-6 degree Celsius at a few places in the districts of Odisha over the next five days. Consequently, hot and humid weather is likely over the next five days. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside from 11am to 3pm.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, heatwave conditions are predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 43 degree Celsius and 28 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 44.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Bargarh and Bolangir while the lowest minimum temperature of 24.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Phulbani and Boudh, the bulletin informed.
