Odisha weather: IMD issues red alert for Sundaragada, Kendujhar

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Monday issued a red warning for Sundaragada and Kendujhar, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rain at one or two places.

An orange warning has also been issued for Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola and Mayurbhanj, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places.

The well-marked low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of north coastal Odisha and the northwest Bay of Bengal persists over the same region.

The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 kilometers above mean sea level and tilts southwestward with height.

The system is likely to move west-northwestward across north Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next 24 hours, according to the IMD.
