Odisha weather report: Thunderstorms likely in these districts amid prevailing heatwave

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Thursday issued Yellow Warning for both thunderstorms and heatwave conditions over several Odisha districts.

Upto 8.30 AM of June 9: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heatwave condition is likely to prevail at one or two places over Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.

The weather agency flagged another Yellow Warning (be updated) which forecasted that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput and Sundargarh. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of June 9 to 8.30 AM of June 10: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heatwave condition is likely to prevail at one or two places over Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and  Mayurbhanj districts.

The weather agency flagged another Yellow Warning (be updated) which forecasted that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati and Ganjam districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha.

IMD predicted no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) in the state over the next four to five days. Maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 3 to 5 degree Celsius at a few places over the districts of Odisha.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 41 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 44.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 22.7 degree Celsius was recorded at Boudh, the bulletin informed.
