Oupada: An elderly woman died of sunstroke while returning home after taking her pension in Oupada block of Balasore district Tuesday. She was Sabitri Sahu (63).
Scores of elderly persons from various parts of this area had been to the block office in the morning for their pensions. Sabitri was out of home at 1.45pm. On the way back, due to excess heat, she fell unconscious on the road. Locals rushed her to the Soro government hospital.
She was declared dead on arrival. A case of unnatural death was registered and the body sent for post-mortem.
