ONGC, SAIL in final

Rourkela, March 3: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and ONGC will face-off in the final of the Public Sector Hockey Tournament after winning their respective semifinals convincingly at the Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium here Thursday.
In the first semifinal, SAIL crushed BSNL 15-0, while ONGC spanked Air India 6-1 in the second encounter.
SSC in semis
Sunrise Sports Club (SSC) of Koida blanked FAO Academy, Cuttack 2-0 in a quarterfinal match to enter the semifinals of the 12th All India Biju Patnaik football tournament at the Ispat Stadium here Thursday.
After a goalless first half, Bosen Murmu opened the account for SSC in the 50th minute. Azad Ali doubled the lead in the 67th minute. FAO Academy got few chances but failed to convert them into goals. The second quarterfinal will be played between ACB Power Projector of Korba and SEC Railway of Nagpur, Friday.
Orissa duo triumphs
Ansu Bhuyan and Avilash Mishra of Orissa emerged champions in the doubles category of the AITA-OTA Men’s tennis tournament at Berhampur, Thursday. Ansu and Avilash duo beat the Tamil Nadu and Haryana pair of Raswant Ravi and Pradeep Deswal 6-3, 6-7 (4), 10-6 in the keenly-contested summit clash.
Ashutosh wins
Orissa player Ashutosh Padhy scripted an emphatic win over his rival in the Asian U-21 Snooker Championships at Colombo, Thursday. Ashutosh triumphed over Mohammed Shaqib of Pakistan 4-1. The Orissa cueist had breaks of 66 and 57. He had lost his first match, Wednesday.
