Bhubaneswar: Twin City Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty Thursday reinstated the ‘dancing cop’ at the Satya Nagar traffic post following publication of reports of his punishment and subsequent transfer to the traffic police station Wednesday.
Pratap Chandra Khandlwal, a home guard, earned the ire of his higher-ups following his popularity due to his unique style of manning the traffic. He became the eyesore of his colleagues and higher-ups as he received many awards including financial help from various sections of the society from across the nation. Khandwal, had been working as a traffic cop in the city for six years until he was dumped to serve as a gate-keeper at the traffic police station at AG Square. Commissioner Mohanty Thursday directed the assistant commissioner of police (Traffic) to re-engage Pratap to traffic post duty within two days. Meanwhile, Pratap, who was considering quitting the job, thanked the Commissioner for the decision.
