Orissa batters spoil Subham’s Heroics

Cuttack, Dec 6: Subham Nayak(5/55) Bowled a brilliant spell to destroy Tripura’s batting almost single handedly, but Orissa batsmen could not compliment the off spinner’s effort and batted poorly to be precariously placed on the second day of the four-day Cooch Behar Trophy cricket match at the BOSE Ground here Sunday.
In reply to Tripura’s first innings total of 277, the hosts were 151 for the loss of six wickets at stumps of day two. Subrat Samal (44, 122b, 5×4) and Biswajit Bhuyan (33, 58b, 7×4) got starts, but could not consolidate further. Rajkishan Patel (33 batting, 35b, 5×4, 1×6) was occupying the crease with Subham Nayak (1 batting) at stumps. Tapash Mandal (3/37) was the pick of the bowlers for Tripura.
Earlier Subham Nayak choked the visiting side with some brilliant off spin bowling and returned with a five wicket haul. Rajat Dey (76, 139b, 15×4) and SA Gan (51, 162b, 7×4) hit half centuries to help Tripura post a challenging total. Subham was well supported by Ashutosh Das (2/34) and Anurag Prusty (2/57) who snared two scalps each.

NISER win
NISER registered an emphatic nine wickets victory against IMMT in a match of the E-League Challenger Series at the IMMT ground, Bhubaneswar Sunday.
Opting to bat first, IIMT managed a paltry score of 88 in 22 overs getting all out in the process. Barring Snehasis Behera (22), no other batsman could impress with the bat. Srikanta Sethi (3/20) and Abhay Naik (2/9) did the maximum damage with their incisive bowling.
Chasing was a cakewalk for the NISER as they knocked off the target only in 13.2 overs for the loss of only one wicket with Purna Chandra Sahu (37) emerging as the highest scorer.
