Bhubaneswar, Dec 5: Orissa eves finished runners-up in the 19th National Junior Sepak Takraw Championship, which concluded at the KIIT Sports Complex here Saturday. Orissa were beaten 0-2 by a formidable Manipur side in the final.
In the doubles event, Nagaland blanked Kerala 2-0 to emerge champions. In the boys’ category, Manipur edged out Delhi 2-1 to clinch the title.
Snooker tourney
Asutosh Padhy will meet Jiten Sarangi in the first semifinal, while Subrat Das will face Nishant Biswal in the second semifinal of the 22nd State Snooker and Billiards Championships at the Vintage Club here Sunday.
In the quarterfinals played Saturday, Asutosh thrashed Amiya Ranjan Nayak 4-0 (53-45, 63-25, 71-25, 68-28) while Subrat prevailed over Satyadeep Das 4-1 (87-28, 64-11, 27-59, 52-49, 63-43). In the other matches, Nishant Biswal got the better of Rakesh Roshan Pradhan 4-2 (15-59, 61-10, 64-09, 66-23, 29-69, 46-35) while Jiten Sarangi also emerged triumphant.
Radha Gobinda win
Radha Gobinda defeated Bidanasi Club 3-1 in a match of the FAO First Division Super League at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, Saturday.
Jayant Mahto opened the account for Radha Gobinda in the 34th minute and Bosen Murmu (55th) and Anil Murmu (82nd) scored the other two goals for the winning side. Saroj Kanhar got one back for Bidanasi in the 66th minute. The second match between Jay Durga Club and Independent Club ended in a goalless draw.
