Orissa eves register hat-trick of victories

Bhubaneswar: A clinical bowling performance and some breezy knocks from openers Madhusmita Behera (45, 53, 2×4) and Madhuri Mehta (32, 33b, 4×4) helped Orissa beat Tripura by eight wickets in their Senior Women’s T20 league match at Chennai, Monday. This is their hat-trick of victories in the tournament.

Opting to bat first, Tripura openers Mouchaity Debnath (42, 52b, 4×4) and Indra Rani Jamatia (37, 32, 4×4, 1×6) gave a flying start to their team with a 76-run stand. However, Sushsree Pradhan then ended the stand with the wicket of Madhuri.

However, the dismissal of Mouchaity put the brakes on Tripura innings as Orissa bowlers came back strongly to restrict their opponents to 110/6 in 20 overs.

For Orissa, Rasanara Parwin picked up two wickets while Madhusmita, Sushree and Priyanka Priyadarshini got a wicket apiece.

In reply, Orissa cruised to the victory target in 18.2 overs for the loss of only two wickets. Sarita Meher (25 n o) was the other notable scorer.

Brief scores: Tripura 110/6 (Mouchaity Debnath 42, Indra Rani Jamatia 37; Rasanara Parwin 2/21) lost to Orissa 112/2 (Madhusmita Behera 45, Madhuri Meheta 32; MR Dey 1/24) in 18.2 overs by eight wickets.
