Bhubaneswar: Riding on a brilliant all-round show by Sukhram Majhi, Orissa emerged champions of the East Zone Visually-Impaired cricket tournament for the consecutive fifth time after beating West Bengal by a huge margin of 151 runs in the final in Jharkhand, Friday. After clinching the title, Orissa also qualified for the national cricket tournament for the blind 2016 to be played at Valsed Gujarat, November 10-14.
Opting to bat first, Orissa scored a mammoth total of 262 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Sukhram Majhi (136) hit a hurricane century from just 69 balls. Lalprasad Soren (43) complemented him well.
In reply, Bengal could manage only 111 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated overs. After a good batting show, man of the match Sukhram followed it up in the bowling scalping two wickets. Md Jafar and Sukhram were adjudged man of the series in the B1 and B3 categories respectively.

Sarada Prasan Memorial 22nd Inter-District and Orissa State Table Tennis Championship got underway at the Sahid Nagar Indoor Hall here Friday. The tournament is organised by Sarada Prasan Memorial Trust under the aegis of Orissa State Table Tennis Association. The event was inaugurated by director cum additional secretary of sports and youth services department Alekh Kumar Jena.
