Cuttack: Orissa rowers had a wonderful outing on the opening day of the 38th National Junior Rowing Championships as the hosts’ rowers qualified for the finals of three events at the SAI Water Sports Complex in Jagatpur, Thursday.
Reshma Kumari Minz advanced to the finals of the girls’ singles scull event while Ritu Koudi and Kamala Lakra qualified for the coxless pairs finals. In the girls’ coxless fours event, Jharana Hasti, Savita Soreng, Asmita Kerketta and Sonali Swain booked a berth in the finals.
Among other state rowers, Deepika Xess and Reshma Lakra advanced to the semifinals of the girls’ double scull event. In the boys’ coxless-four, Alok Minz, Rakesh Tirkey, Albin Toppo and Lazrus Dhanwar were assured of their places in the semifinals.
