Orissa POST’s ‘Mettle Meet 2016’ quizmaster Venkatesh Srinivasan, who is popularly known as Venky, was all praise for the students of the state. Excerpts from an interview:
What is your opinion about the students of Orissa after having seen their performance in the quiz competition?
The students of Orissa are at par with the students of other metropolitan cities. Every question framed by us was answered by these students and that shows they are as competent as students elsewhere.
What suggestions do you have for the students who are taking part in quiz
competitions?
The students should spend more time in reading. Students across the country who participate in quiz competitions are seasoned ones. However, to improve their performance, they should read newspapers.
How do you prepare questions for such competitions?
Our first priority while preparing questions is to make them very interesting. We make questions whose answers are accessible to all and the clues are hidden in the questions.
What do you have to say about Orissa POST’s initiative?
The competition was organised well, from the stage to the prizes. The organisation was also very generous in giving away participation cheques to all participants. Orissa POST has set a standard regarding quiz competitions.
