Orissa colts suffered a four- wicket loss against Assam in a match of the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy at Guwahati, Wednesday. By virtue of this win, Assam bagged six points.
Assam overcame initial hiccups to knock off the required target of 117 for the loss of six wickets with Sambhab Jain (41, 104b, 5×4) leading the run chase. Binit Kumar Mohanty (2/34) bowled well for Orissa.
Earlier Orissa resuming at their overnight score of 71/4 could add only 52 runs to their total getting all out in the process. Barring Khyamasagar Bal (36, 62b, 6×4) all the other Orissa batters faltered. Rituraj Biswas (5/27) was the wrecker-in-chief for Assam.
