Bhubaneswar: Jeypore-born Annie Prince Nag, 26, bagged the ‘Miss India Elegant-2017’ title held at Capital Hotel in Bangalore by surpassing 17 other participants in a pageant organised September 24.
Annie moved to Bangalore in 2011 to pursue her BA degree in journalism and psychology from Oxford College of Science. She did her intermediate at Vikram Dev Autonomous College and schooling in Modern English School at Jeypore (Koraput).
“This title is a stepping stone towards my goal of entering the glamour world,” Annie told Orissa POST, adding, she had to overtake several contenders, some of whom are renowned TV actors and models.
Annie’s father Ranjan Nag is a police official and her mother a schoolteacher. The young lady from Orissa gives credit to her parents for their motivation and support.
Since modelling has helped many to gain a foothold in film industry, she intends to take part in more beauty pageants in future to pursue her goals, stated Annie, who had won Miss Bangalore title in 2012.
Annie’s first Kannada movie Nanobne Ollevnu (I am the only good guy) was released in June. Several movie scripts are pending her consideration, but Annie intends to be choosy since the ‘‘script is at the root of a film’s success.’’
Annie admits candidly that she has been missing Orissa for quite some time, but she is keen on staging a comeback and make her people and parents proud. Recently, many girls from Orissa had succeeded in international beauty pageants.
Oriya girl Mrunalinee Senapati, for instance, has been residing in Mumbai after she bagged ‘‘Miss Perfect Body” title at the Abraxas Goddess of Beauty Pageant held in New Delhi August 27.
