Bhubaneswar, June 11: ‘Agastya’, one of the “most-awaited Oriya films” of recent times, is premiering June 12. The pre-release promotion of the film — which has Anubhav Mohanty, Akash Dasnayak and Jhilik Bhattacharya in lead roles — has raised expectations from the movie, particularly with its song ‘Dhire dhire’ doing well on social media.

“The lead actors have essayed roles that are in stark contrast with what they have done till date. Akash, who is known as the ‘smiling hero’, for instance, is portraying a serious role. Anubhav, Mihir Das, and Jhilik have also tried different characters. The film has utilised the latest in technology such as academy colour encoding system and has been shot using red dragon cameras. Parts of the film are of standards comparable with international productions,” producer Akshya Parija said.

The producer went on to share a few more highlights of the film: “Anubhav reduced his weight by 11 kilos to fit into the character. We have also succeeded in our experiment with singer Ananya. We thought her voice was best suited for the song ‘Dhire Dhire’; that the song has gone viral is proof of its success,” Parija said.

Prem Anand, the music director of ‘Agastya’, said: “I have created some exceptional songs that are quite unlike my past creations. The lyrics by newcomer Subrat Swain are also interesting. For instance, in the song ‘Dhire Dhire’, the first line has the heroine begging for love ‘Dhire Dhire Bhala Paigali Jebe, To Sathire Dhekha Heli’, and the hero rejects it ‘Bodhe E Prema Rahibani Kali, Samaya Kahiba Jibi Bhuli, Janena Kahinki Dekha Heli’. It was an experiment but it has fortunately clicked.”

Jhilik, the leading lady has chosen character over glamour in ‘Agastya’, which is again a departure from her films till date. “I play a servant and the humour in this film is subtle. And I have tried my best to come up with the right approach for the character,” she said.

‘Agastya’ also has veterans including Mihir Das, Minaketan, Manoj Mishra, Salil Mitra, Priyanka Patnaik and Munna Sethi, besides the lead actors. Humane Sagar, Bishnu, Sricharan, Satyajit, Sangram, Asutosh, Tarikh Aziz and Pragnya have lent voice to lyrics by Arun Mantry and Subrata Swain. Amara Muzik holds the music rights of ‘Agastya’ and Pratap Rout is the director of photography.
