Bhubaneswar, June 21: Amid allegations of prevalence of casting couch in Oriya film industry and alleged nexus of film stars with ponzi accused, the Orissa Film Development Corporation (OFDC) has convened a meeting June 29 to discuss these sensitive issues and find a way out.
“We are going to hold a meeting June 29 to discuss these issues and find a solution,” said OFDC chairman Munna Khan Tuesday, while assuring appropriate action against persons concerned if the allegations made against them are proved.
The actor-turned-BJD politician said that directors, filmmakers, actors and cine critics from Oriya film fraternity are going to attend the crucial meeting.
“It is not appropriate to blame the entire industry because of the actions of a handful of people,” he said, adding, the party will not spare anybody if found guilty over ponzi links.
While allegations have been levelled against several actors and actor-turned-politicians, especially from the ruling BJD for having links with chit fund companies after the arrest of Oscar Group head Prabhas Rout’s arrest, allegations of a heinous tradition of casting in the film industry have also surfaced.
Names of popular actors including Uttam Mohanty and actor-turned-politicians Anubhav Mohanty, Akash Das Nayak and comedian Papu Pom Pom, who had unsuccessfully contested 2014 assembly election from Champua on a BJD ticket, are doing rounds in alleged ponzi-Oriya film industry links.
