Bhubaneswar, June 14: The economic offence wing (EOW) of Orissa Crime Branch Tuesday said that the Oscar Group of Companies’ arrested chairman had stashed more than Rs 1 crore in the main branch of State Bank of India (SBI) here.
Sources said EOW officials
have traced around `1.60 crore cash has been stashed in the SBI main branch here by Rout, who was
questioned on the fourth consecutive day.
“The EOW officials have reportedly detected other bank accounts of Rout having several lakhs of rupees and mutual funds.
The officials have also traced several properties of Rout in Gujarat and Maharashtra. A team is likely to leave for Gujarat and Maharashtra soon to further investigate the case. The agency’s officials will also urge the court Wednesday to grant them another five-seven days’ remand of Rout,” they added.
In a related development, trouble mounted on Oriya film actor Tatwa Prakash Satpathy aka Papu Pom Pom as the EOW officials reportedly discovered that he had taken loans of several lakhs from Rout.
“The EOW officials have recovered an affidavit in which it was mentioned that Papu had reportedly taken Rs 2.50 lakh from Rout when he was contesting the elections from Champua assembly constituency in 2014. EOW officials may question Papu in this connection Wednesday,” sources said.
Rout was arrested June 9 from a guesthouse in New Delhi for duping several investors.
