OSPCB to recognise fighters of pollution

Bhubaneswar, July 16: The Orissa State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) has invited applications from “industries/mines/healthcare institutions” in the state for Pollution Control Excellence and Pollution Control Appreciation awards. These awards are to be given September 14, the 33rd foundation day of OSPCB.

Also, the awards are to be given under the respective categories industries, mines and healthcare units.

OSPCB sources said the office has written to its 12 regional offices, instructing them to take necessary action to promote the initiative. Regional officers have also been asked to display the notification on notice boards and to communicate details of pollution control measures and environmental management systems the applicant units have adopted.

Jury members will consider the practices the organisations are following, such as water and air pollution control system, solid waste management practices, hazardous and biomedical waste management practices and other pollution control practices for the awards.

According to OSPCB, the application forms have been made available at regional offices and the head office. It is also available online at www.ospcboard.org. The application includes a special space for applicants to note down why they think they are eligible to be chosen for the awards.
