Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: The weekend at the Ekamra Kanan attracted a large number of horticulture enthusiasts of the city during the two-day flower show that concluded Sunday. The show attracted over 70,000 visitors. Prakash Kumar Jean, a retired army officer said, “It could be very nice if the organisers extend the days of flower show. I re
quest the organising committee to hold the show for a longer period next time.” The show also turned out to be a place where people were able to buy plants of their choice and the choices were innumerable. A large number of people bought not only the decorative plants but also for their kitchen gardens. Resident of Jagannath Vihar Ankita Panda, who bought zinnias and dahlias flower plants, said, “I love this exhibition. It has also inspired me to develop a rooftop garden myself.” The flower show also offered an opportunity for people to participate in the several competitions and a number of private and government institutions displayed their floral arrangements. Over 100 such participants were given awards by the dignitaries on the concluding day of the show. Fourteen-year-old Priyansu Jena bagged the first prize in the junior category of flower arrangement. He was given ‘Jagannath Memorial Running Trophy’ for 2018.
