Paddy procurement in Bolangir from Nov 14

Bolangir: The district administration Tuesday braced up to open about 158 centres for paddy procurement in the district.

The decision was taken at a district-level meeting at the DRDA office here. Presided over by District Collector Arindam Dakua, the meeting was attended by Kantabanji MLA Ayub Khan, Titilagarh MLA Tukuni Sahu, zilla parishad chairperson Bharati Mahanand, Bolangir sub-collector Bhairav Singh Patel, Titilagarh sub-collector Sudhakar Naik, district supply officer Abhiram Pradhan, district deputy director of agriculture Sridhar Das, Bolangir cooperative society president Laxman Meher, MP Sushil Chand, Patnagarh MLA’s representative Madhav Sa, Loisingha MLA’s representative Sibad Mishra, Bolangir District Farmers Association president Sudhir Paricha and secretary Jyoti Padhan among others.

The meeting resolved to procure paddy in 158 primary agriculture cooperative societies (PACS) in the district.

The district supply inspector said, all the PACS would start procurement of produce from November 14. Collector Arindam Dakua would formally inaugurate the procurement centre.

Meanwhile, the government has fixed MSP of Rs 1,770 per quintal for A grade variety of paddy and Rs 1,750 per quintal for normal variety of paddy.
