Bhubaneswar: BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Tuesday asked two of party’s district observers to probe the allegations local BJD activists are bringing against Kendrapara Lok Sabha MP Baijayant Panda.
Party’s Kendrapara district observer Pramila Mallick and Cuttack observer Usha Devi will probe the allegations of Panda’s alleged anti-party activities and will submit a report to the party president, a party leader said.
A group of BJD members and activists from Mahakalpada in Kendrapara met the CM at Naveen Niwas Tuesday evening urging him to probe the activities of Panda in the constituency.
In a memorandum to the BJD president, the activists of Mahakalpada alleged that the MP was misutilising his MPLAD. They also alleged that Panda visits their areas with some BJP leaders and generally holds discussions with opposition members. “During a BJD rally in Mahakalpada last year the MP reached the venue with some anti-social elements for which he had to face severe public resentment,” the letter reads.
Earlier, a group of activists from Nischintakoili led by block chairperson Sabita Ojha had met CM at his residence and submitted a memorandum of their complaints alleging Panda was not releasing MPLAD fund to their block and has not been in contact with any BJD member of Nischintakoili for several years.
The CM had assured them to order an inquiry into their allegations.
