Bhubaneswar, April 10: A three-member fact-finding committee was formed by authorities of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) Friday to investigate shocking allegations of sexual assault leveled against a chemistry professor at Basic Science College.
The committee comprises Prof Rabindra Das, Prof Baman Prasad Acharya and Prof Minaketan Mohanty.
The accused professor reportedly sought sexual favours from four male students, threatening to fail them in upcoming examinations if they failed to accede, sources said.
“A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the matter. The professor has been sent on long leave and has been stripped of all his posts and powers,” said Manoranjan Kar, vice-chancellor of OUAT.
Meanwhile, video clips of the purported sexual harassment by the professor have gone viral among students here.
The three-member team has been asked to submit their findings as soon as possible. The VC said exemplary action would be taken if the professor was found to be guilty, and added the same goes for the complainants as well if the allegations were found to be false.
