Kendrapara: The parents of a man here are worried after their son, who went to Malaysia to work on a tourist visa, landed in jail.
Sources said Ashoka Mallick, 30, the son of Kailash Mallick of Badaanko, went to Malaysia a year back to work as a plumber with the help of an agent on a tourist visa. He later worked for the AZ Express Resources SDN BHD.
Although his tourist visa expired months back he used to work in Malaysia. Mallick was nabbed by Malaysian police August 31 and was jailed.
After his arrest Mallick telephoned his father Kailash Mallick and informed him that he had been arrested for overstaying in Malaysia after the expiry of his tourist visa.
“We are spending sleepless nights thinking about our son for the past two months. What should we do to get our son released from jail and bring him back,” said Sabita Mallick, the mother of Ashoka.
Although the parents approached the Collector and SP of Kendrapara they did not get any help from the administration.
The parents have requested the government, the Labour Department, Union External Affairs Minister and the Indian consulate in Malaysia to get their son released from jail, and to arrange his deportation to India.
