Pari death case POCSO court to hear petition for accused Saroj Sethi’s narco-analysis test Tuesday

Nayagarh: In a new twist to the sensational Pari death case, a POCSO court in Nayagarh district will hear a petition seeking a narco-analysis test on accused Saroj Sethi Tuesday.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing into the murder of five-year-old girl Pari of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district had sought permission from the POCSO court for a narcotic analysis test on the accused.

Notably, the five-year-old girl went missing from her house at Jadupur under Sadar police limits in Nayagarh district June 14. Her body was recovered from a spot only 50 metres away from the place where she went missing June 23.

Alleging police inaction, Pari’s parents had attempted self-immolation in front of the Odisha Legislative Assembly November 24. This had sparked massive public outrage across the state forcing the government to order an SIT probe.

The SIT led by Arun Bothra had conducted polygraph tests on Saroj Sethy, his mother and sister and then arrested Saroj. Bothra had said the accused committed the crime when he was alone at his home and termed Saroj as a necrophile. The SIT had the crime scene recreated by the accused. It had also recovered the pair of leggings of the deceased girl after drying up the pond where her skeletal remains were recovered.
